"You are only as young as your spine is flexible"

- Joseph Pilates

Mindfulness

Pilates is a mindful, sustainable and energising form of exercise. It can work to enhance your performance and support bodies through injury.

Adapted for you

Pilates uses specific movements in an aligned posture which can be simplified or advanced to meet individual needs, thus suiting all levels of fitness and mobility. Not only does it work on improving strength and endurance but also coordination, sequence and flexibility.

The results

Pilates re-educates your body to move and function better in everyday life!

Vicki Lewis

APPI Certified Pilates Instructor

I’ve always been interested in the health and wellbeing sector having trained as an aerobics instructor in my 20s and working freelance for Champneys, Tring. Due to family commitments I took up a career in education to be able to work flexibly whilst my children were growing up but there has always been a desire to return to the industry in some format. Although I came away from the sector I continued my own fitness journey taking up running and yoga, along with numerous other classes like HIIT and spinning but unfortunately I was plagued with injury specifically chronic low back pain. This is how I discovered Pilates and the lightbulb moment occurred. It was a revelation to me to be able to continue with some form of exercise during the rehabilitative stages of injury recovery. Training to become a qualified Matwork Pilates instructor with the APPI has enabled me to explore this technique in detail and the benefits it has not only to the body but to the mind as well.
